Common VIN locations
For many passenger vehicles, the VIN is visible through the lower-left corner of the windshield from outside the vehicle. It is also commonly on the driver-door or door-jamb certification label. Locations vary by vehicle, so consult the owner's documentation when neither is present.
Compare documents
The VIN is usually also shown on the title, registration, and insurance documentation. Do not treat one matching document as conclusive: compare the vehicle's physical VIN locations to each other and to the paperwork.
