Data used to provide the service
A submitted VIN and any selected camera still are processed to perform the lookup or OCR request. TestVINs does not intentionally create user accounts, retain VIN reports, or store photo contents. Requests are sent to service providers needed for the requested check, including Cloudflare infrastructure, NHTSA, FuelEconomy.gov, and optional CarWhere enrichment.
Operational telemetry and lawful basis
Limited security and operational telemetry records bounded events and ordinary request metadata but excludes VIN values and photo contents. Processing is used to provide the service and pursue legitimate interests in security, reliability, abuse prevention, and improvement. Providers may retain network metadata under their own policies.
Retention and rights
TestVINs does not intentionally retain submitted VINs or photos. Infrastructure logs may be retained for limited operational periods set by the applicable provider. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability and may complain to your data-protection authority. Contact tyfactor.uk to make a request.
International processing and changes
Providers may process data outside your country under their applicable safeguards. TestVINs does not currently use advertising cookies. This notice will be updated before materially different advertising or data uses are enabled. Last updated: August 26, 2026.
